Tanya Ager Meillier
Tanya Ager Meillier is originally from Manchester, U.K. Born of mixed ethnicity, she spent much of her childhood in tow of her mum traveling throughout Asia and the rest of the world. These experiences grew into a lifelong passion for promoting tolerance by experiencing new cultures and for preserving the environment.
Amongst the widely varying documentaries Tanya has shot, edited and produced are Conflicts in Paradise, a documentary on the fragile balancing act between man and nature in the Galapagos Islands, Ketahanan (Resilience) on Tsunami Recovery in Banda Aceh, Indonesia for the United Nations Development Programme, KBIIT (Courage) on peacebuilding in East Timor for the United Nations Mission there, and The Take Over - a documentary on street and Hip Hop culture in the South Bronx.
Specifically as an Editor she has recently completed two documentary features. Pizza The Movie! a feature length documentary on the strange and comical world of Pizza Acrobats, currently in distribution with Films Transit International.In addition to Producer, she was also editor of the feature documentary Obscene, which premiered at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival to glowing reviews and is slated for distribution after Labor Day, 2008 by Arthouse Films, a subsidiary of Palm Pictures.
Tanya's work as an underwater and wildlife filmmaker has brought her to such remote locations as Coco Island, The Galapagos Islands, Peninsula de Osa in Costa Rica, remote islands of the Caribbean, Central and South America, the caves and caverns of Mexico, the rain forests of Borneo, East Timor and almost every other country in South East Asia. VOX music has released a DVD composed entirely of Tanya's wildlife footage from the Galapagos Islands available everywhere.
Tanya has been invited to share her experiences as a documentary filmmaker at Yale University and for Apple Computer at their Soho, New York location. She has been a guest instructor for The United Nations, DV Dojo, and the Weeekend Film School, amongst other organizations and for dozens of individuals.
Tanya currently resides in Chinatown, New York City.
