Alexander Meillier
Alex Meillier began his career in film and television in 1987 when at the age of 15 he landed a gig as a field producer, correspondent and part-time anchor for an NBC regional affiliate in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota producing stories for the program "For Kids Sake".
In addition to the work featured on the Ager Meillier website, Alex is an accomplished director in his own right, having directed national commercials such as the heavily aired spot: "Who Wants to Kick a Millionaire's Ass?" for Crunch Gyms, and the comedic short film "Dr. B. Scurrilous, Scurvy Specialist", a favorite for festival programmers.
Alex's philosophy of filmmaking is akin to the words of the great Duke Ellington, who, once said of music: "If it sounds good, it's good."
"It's about making strong choices that fit the story and the characters," Alex says. "This is why in my work you will see that each piece has a unique 'look', one that is appropriate for the story."
"I take the same approach to format. I view any camera as a tool, and as such am never constrained or intimated by a box that rolls film or records pixels; the camera is a means to a creative end, whether it's super-8 or 35 anamorphic. The format fits the story first, and then if it looks good, it's good."
